San Giorgio della Richinvelda - Italia
Nella campagna friulana, ai piedi delle Prealpi Carniche, una giovane coppia decide di fare ex novo una casa unifamiliare.
Viene chiesta una distribuzione su due piani sfalsati di un metro tra zona giorno e zona notte: tale scelta esclude un'immagine volumetrica tradizionale, obbligando il dialogo con la tradizione non più nella forma complessiva del solido edilizio, ma piuttosto nell'uso delle componenti strutturali e dei materiali che lo compongono: tetto a falde, muratura in sasso e in intonaco, elementi in legno, etc.
La seconda scelta progettuale è stata di mettere la zona giorno a ovest nella convinzione che tale zona debba avere un forte rapporto con l' area esterna visivamente protetta. Il portico, qui inteso come spazio di mediazione tra interno ed esterno, fa da “cerniera” tra il soggiorno e la cucina pranzo e può dunque essere usato, servito dalle ampie aperture scorrevoli, sia come un'estensione esterna del soggiorno, sia coma zona pranzo all'aperto. Una grande stufa ovale protegge dall'ingresso un accogliente spazio leggermente ribassato.
La zona notte, rialzata di un metro rispetto alla zona giorno, è servita da una scala ellittica che prosegue per servire un'altra camera, il terzo bagno e un soppalco studio che si affaccia all'interno sul soggiorno a doppia altezza e, mediante un'ampia finestra orizzontale, su un bel gruppo di acacie poste ad ovest.

In the Friuli countryside, at the foot of the Carnic PreAlps, a young couple decides to build a new house.
It is asked for a distribution on two staggered floors of a meter between the living and sleeping area: this choice excludes a traditional volumetric image, forcing the dialogue with the tradition no longer in the overall shape of the building, but rather in the use of structural components and materials that make it up: pitched roof, stone masonry and plaster, wooden elements, etc.
The second design choice was to put the living area to the west with the belief that the living area must have a strong relationship with the 'outside visually protected area ; the porch, here thougt as a mediating space between inside and outside, acts as a "hinge" between the living and the dining room and can therefore be used, being served by large sliding doors, both as an external extension of the living, and as an outdoor dining area. A large oval stove protects a cozy slightly recessed space from the entrance.
The sleeping area, raised a meter above the living area, is served by an elliptical staircase that goes up to serve another room, the third bathroom and a loft study overlooking inside the double height living room and, trough a wide horizontal window, on a beautiful acacia bunch to the west.
